Teori Multiple IntelligencesPertanyaan mengenai definisi optimal mengenai kecerdasan membayang-bayangi dalam pencarian kita. Memang, pada  tingkat definisi ini teori kecerdasan majemuk terpisah dari pokok-pokok pandangan tradisional. Dalam pandangan tradisional, kecerdasan ditetapkan secara operasional sebagai kemampuan untuk menjawab berbagai jenis tes kecerdasan.

Kesimpulan dari nilai tes pada beberapa kemampuan di balik itu didukung oleh teknik statistik yang membandingkan tanggapan subyek pada usia berbeda; korelasi yang jelas dari nilai tesini lintas umur dan lintas tes berbeda membenarkan pengertian bahwa bakat umum dari kecerdasan tidak banyak berubah dengan bertambahnya umur atau dengan pelatihan atau pengalaman.Ini adalah sifat yang dibawa sejak lahir atau bakat individual.

While Lazarus’ theorizing drew on his work with adults, it is not difficult to extrapolate from it to the world of adolescents. This is quite evident in the research related to resilience and coping with difficult circumstances such as illness and trauma in the world of adolescence. In the same article Lazarus comments that creating categories of emotions such as positive and negative fails to take account of the context.
